It is the Tao of my photography.
Art:
As a visual artist/designer by trade, there is no denying that form and beauty are important elements of an aesthetic photograph. I believe that beauty can be found in even the most mundane things and everyday places. Most of the time, a beautiful photo is usually not of an exotic place or a specialized subject. Rather, they are photos of ordinary things and places that hold meaning, history, or sentimental value to the photographer or to the person(s) in the picture. I believe in the crucial element of story in each and every photo taken. It is that extra something that turns a good photograph into a great one.
Story:
Taking photographs is sometimes similar to making a documentary film. I get to experience firsthand, all the festivities, joy and laughter that surrounds me. I, inevitably, become a part of the event. When looking at great photograph, you can feel the excitement returning. Joyously laugh aloud, overcome by happy tears and perhaps, a gentle nostalgia as you relive the event, photo by photo, for many years to come. Your album is a documentary of life. Your life.
Truth:
Everyone who poses for a photo wants to be photographed while looking their best. There’s nothing more beautiful than a genuine smile that comes from the heart. The natural beauty captured by a candid photo of you, your family or friends is what I define as priceless moment. It is the difference between seeing a person smiling in a photo and feeling that person’s laughter while viewing a particular photo. Which is why I spend time getting to know my clients beforehand, understanding their style, and listening to their needs and wants for their special day. When clients are comfortable with me, most of the time, their pictures are visually reflective of that carefree and trustful relationship between us. Simply enjoy the moments of your celebration, and let me capture all your memories behind the scenes.
Familiarity:
There’s nothing more relaxing and comforting as familiar places and the things that belong to you. Choose your ideal location and dress as you wish for a photo session. So long as the place holds sentimental value and defines your style and personality, your story will naturally unravel on its own. A few personal relics that you bring to the shoot, can greatly enhance your picture. An example of show-and-tell items or props could be jewelry, books, cards, etc. Be as creative as you like.
Result:
A radiant, breathtaking, and nostalgic photograph.
