Pool Party… Burgers… Hot Dogs…

Party @ Chins
none

Finally, I learned to swim the freestyle. I didn’t freak out, didn’t drown, just mind, body and soul working together in sync. But my God, it’s exhausting. Chin’s roof top pool was just the right length to swim from one side to the other with just one breath of air. Soon, I will be ready for the Olympics.

Anyway, in addition to offering a 180-degree view of a very rainy Manhattan cityscape, wall-to-ceiling, glass-enclosed pool area offered some very melodramatic lighting conditions. Taking full advantage of that, I took some really nice pictures of my half naked friends in the pool. The photo shoot was followed by an early dinner of grilled burgers and hot dogs on Chin’s 14th floor terrace– in full anticipation of a sunset serenely reflecting over the Hudson River.

In this gallery, I’m using a new viewer to display the album. Viewer script and flash movie are developed by airtightinteractive.com called Tilt Viewer. I found the photo display quite ingenious, offering the viewer both visual presentation and interaction with the gallery. Simply click on the image to zoom in. Click on it a second time, to zoom out.

Right clicking will allow you the option to enter full screen. Neat!
Clicking on the lower right corner on some of the enlarged photos will show a photo description and title.

YELLO77 Design [2.0] Online

Post by fotolistic on August 18th, 2008   In Category : Design, Other

Two weeks of late nighters, frustration and brain-squeezing, it’s done.

The birth of this new layout design actually came about after a 24-hour depression a few weeks ago. Why so sad, you might ask? Brain starved for new ideas. Or maybe just brain dead. I just wasn’t sure what redesign I wanted for my site. What elements of design would improve it? One of the reasons for the overhaul is to fill up the screen and use up all the physical space available. Where to begin though? I tinkered with the “Y” logo for hours. Enlarged it a little bit. Shrunk it a bit. Used different colors. A whole day went by. Nothing seemed to work. Got really depressed. Mad even. Yelled at everyone like an agitated cat stuck in a ball of yarn “Meow! Meow! Meow!”

A few more embarrassing outbursts later, a distant ding of a bulb sounded and the light flickered on. Soon after that, all my brain cells came alive, hamsters on wheels began running and neurons were on rapid fire. My website is going to be bold with a focus on typography. I will go back to the basics. After weeks of research, learning how to better utilize CSS handling and other HTML script writing, I managed to incorporate what I’ve always wanted to do in my webpage design with other overlapping elements. To all of you web gurus out there, this all might be old school knowledge. But I’m still a newbie in the world of web designing and I have to give myself a well deserved pat on the back. I’ve always wanted to design something with a strong emphasis on typography. But that never really happen as most of my design clients weren’t too fond of big lettering larger than that of their own logo and trademark.

I was going to wait until the end of this month before switching over to this new interface. However, I couldn’t wait, I just had to take advantage of the larger 1000 pixel post width for my newer posts. 750 pixel just doesn’t cut it. Yes, size does matter. I’d like for everyone to check it out and please let me know what you think. Any feedback will be welcomed. Thanks!

Server Problem @$#…

Post by fotolistic on August 17th, 2008   In Category : Other

Apparently, my hosting service company completely went offline for about 8 hours since last night.
Therefore, if some of you tried to access yello77.com or have sent me any emails, it probably didn’t go through. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I’m contemplating switching my hosting service by the end of this year when my contract is up.
